A TOTAL of nine teams are seeing action in the 2nd Upper Bayanihan Catholic Association (UBCA) Camp basketball tournament which opened last Sunday at the barangay Quiot Sports Complex.
The first game was preceded by an opening program graced by barangay Quiot Councilor Hon. Jojo Ramirez. UBCA founding president Mr. Rey “Toly” Petiluna gave an inspirational message and declared the tournament open.
In the opening game, team RCAF beat ICC Pharmacy, 99-90.
ICC Pharmacy jumped to a hot, 22-12 start led by its 6-foot-2 center Louie Villarin and Charlie Saban, but RCAF responded with a 31-26 rally in the second canto to cut down its deficit to only five points, 43-48, at the half.
ICC still enjoyed a four-point lead, 60-56 at the end of the third quarter, but RCAF outscored ICC Pharmacy in the fourth, 43-30 to complete the come-from-behind win.
Benjie Orquez and Danrey Baclay powered RCAF with a game-high 23 and 16 points, respectively while Danny Dela Peña and Barok Lasque paced ICC Pharmacy with 18 and 17 markers.
