The improvement in the peace and order situation in the Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela) area for the past months has been due to the integrated patrol system, regular inspections and greater police presence and visibility, outgoing Northern Police District (NPD) director Chief Supt. Antonio Decano said.
At Monday’s turnover of command ceremony at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, Decano, who was replaced by Chief Supt. Joel Alvarez, was quick to point out that the NPD has the second lowest crime rate among the police districts in the National Capital Region.
“The police revolution program in Camanava seems to be working and this is reflected in lower street crime incidents in congested areas in these major cities,” Decano said.
The outgoing district director also boasted that police visibility has been stepped up in crowded areas with more patrol teams deployed to every barangay.
He also noted that the NPD’s special operations unit has neutralized robbery groups in the four cities, especially in Caloocan as he proudly endorsed his “moving and improving” police force to Alvarez.
In recognition of his 35 years of police service, Decano was awarded by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headed by director Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina the “Medalya ng Katapatan sa Paglilingkod.”
Espina, in his speech, acknowledged Decano’s exemplary record and expressed confidence that the next district director would continue his legacy and further improve the NPD.
The NCRPO chief also encouraged the police officers present during the ceremony to continue arresting criminals and serving the public.
“The police force has been doing a great job for the past two months. We have slowly cleared our ranks of extorting cops and since they have been removed from service, we have started recovering our integrity,” Espina said.
