MANILA, Philippines–The Sandiganbayan First Division on Monday allowed former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) chairman Manuel Morato to visit the wake of his brother in law.

His brother-in-law Dr. Antonio Lazatin died on December 1.

Morato’s lawyers filed the request citing humanitarian consideration and Filipino tradition of paying respects to dead relatives. The prosecution said it would abide by the court’s decision. The court granted the request and gave Morato three hours within the day to visit the wake.

Morato will be under the control of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
