PAG-ASA was right.
As the country’s weather bureau predicted, the sun was up and the skies were clear the whole day yesterday for the national Thanksgiving Mass for San Pedro Calungsod.
Weathermen recorded the hottest temperature at 30 degrees Celsius at 1:30 p.m at the South Road Properties.It cooled off later in th e afternoon, Pagasa Visayas chief Oscar Tabada told Cebu Daily News.
There was neither a drop of rain nor a clap of thunder contrary to what US-based Accuweather predicted days earlier.
Accuweather’s forecast yesterday for Nov. 30 changed to “sunny” and “clear” for the night.
Church officials earlier called on people to storm heaven with prayers while some went to the Carmelites’ convent to offer eggs and ask the contemplative nuns to pray for good weather.
Pag-asa’s Tabada, however, warned that a tropical storm is expected to develop in the next few days. He said the fine weather will only be until the weekend.
The weather disturbance to be called “Pablo” will follow the same path and strength as typhoon “Ruping” that devastated the Visayas in the 1990s.
