Springdale scores 3 wins in Aboitiz football

SPRINGDALE FC won all of its three matches in yesterday’s resumption of the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Springdale’s boys 12 scored an 11-0 annihilation of Bright Minds in Action Learning Village (BMALV) while its two teams in the boys 14 also blanked their opponents.

Springdale B edged University of San Carlos Basic Education (USC-BED), 1-0, while Springdale A outsmarted Canduman, 2-0.

Another school that tallied more than one win was Bright Academy with its boys 12 routing Children’s Paradise Montessori School (CPMS) and its boys 14 beating Centre for International Education (CIE), 18-0.

Its players 6 teams, however, did not fare well with Bright Academy A falling prey to Don Bosco A, 5-1, and Bright Academy B absorbing a 6-0 spanking from Don Bosco B.

Other results saw Warshockz lambasting Hijas de Jesus, 4-0, Dinamo South burying Holy Infant School, 12-2 and SJS-M outsmarting CIE, 2-0, in the boys 12 category.

Hijas de Jesus also suffered a setback in the boys 14 after bowing to Ateneo A, 12-0. Ateneo B, however, succumbed to a 12-0 routing from Subangdaku FC.

In the girls 17, St. Theresa’s College inflicted an 11-0 beating of Bright Academy while the San Roque Football Club enjoyed a 7-0 demolition of South Hills Int’l.

The Aboitiz Football Cup will resume today in two venues. The players 8 and 10 categories will be played at the Aboitiz Sports Field while the men’s open and boys 17 will begin their bids at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The lone match in the men’s open will pit defending champions Cebu Queen City United (CQCU) FC against FC Inter Cebu.

CQCU just came from finishing at the top 2 spot of the Visayas eliminations of the Philippine Football Federation-Smart Club Championships held in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental. The tournament will be part of their tuneup games for the Round of 16 of the PFF-Smart Club early next year. /correspondent Mars G. Alison
