Civil eng’r topnotcher thanks St. Calungsod

THE lone topnotcher from a state university in Cebu in the November 2012 Civil Engineering Licensure examination said he wants to pay tribute to San Pedro Calungsod for his achievement.

Jejomar Ugsimar Duque, 22, of Apas, Cebu City, placed 10th with a score of 94.20 in results released last Wednesday by the Professional Regulation Commission.

He and his classmates in the Cebu Technological University (CTU) who passed the board exam will be among the multitude of faithful in todays’national thanksgiving Mass in the South Road Properties.

Before the examination last November 24 and 25, Duque said he went to the St. Pedro Calungsod Shrine in D. Jakosalem Street to pray.

“Para nako, dako gyud kaayo siya’g natabang aron maka-focus ko’g maayo atol sa examination day”, Duque said.

(I believe he helped me a lot in focusing my mind on examination day.)

When the result was announced on Wednesday evening, Duque had just arrived home from the Calungsod procession from the Guadalupe Church to the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

PRC said that 2,380 out of 5,747 passed the examination.

CTU Main campus had 15 passers out of 18 examinees or a passing rate of 83 percent, according to the civil engineering department chairman Engr. Alex Mayor.
