BUHAY Boksingero winner Gerpaul Valero of Mandaue City will be featured in the co-main event of the December 2 Mandaue City fight card headlined by the non-title contest between Philippine superflyweight champion Marco Singwangcha against Jessie Tuyor.
RWS Promotions informed that Valero, who is now ranked No. 8 in the GAB Philippine rankings at flyweight, will face Ronnie Sunido of Zamboanga City in the card billed as “Fighters of the Future” at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.
Valero is boxing’s modern day “Cinderella Man.” He had a 1 win – 13 loss – 3 draw record with eight successive losses before he trained under Brix Flores of the Flores Boxing Gym to prepare himself for the GMA – 7 Buhay Boksingero Tournament where he eventually ruled the superflyweight category.
Three of the five wins scored by Valero in that tournament ended via the short route.
Valero’s record has improved dramatically to 12 wins ( 8 KOs), 13 losses and 3 draws with 11 successive wins including his big first round knockout win against Marjun Macahilig of the Ala Boxing Gym in his latest fight in Balamban, Cebu last September. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
