Telcos back National Thanksgiving Mass

PLDT, Smart to provide Internet connectivity
/ 06:33 AM November 30, 2012

Millions of Filipinos all over the world will be able to join the National Thanksgiving Mass for the canonization of San Pedro Calungsod in Cebu City, in real time, via the Internet. This will be possible through the support of wireless leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and its parent firm PLDT to the Archdiocese of Cebu.

PLDT and Smart mobilized their network personnel from Manila and Cebu to provide Internet connectivity at the Media Center of the event and to Radio TV Malacañang (RTVM), enabling members of the media to do live coverage.

PLDT is also providing direct lines and PLDT Landline Plus (PLP) units to be used by Media and Security personnel at the Media Center and Command Center.

PLDT is also providing connectivity to security cameras being monitored by the Cebu City Police Office to ensure safety of all attendees. WiFi Hot Spots using Fiber To The Home (FTTH) technology, courtesy of PLDT, will also be made available at the mass venue.
