MANILA, Philippines — An assistant city prosecutor has claimed that a man who identified himself as a National Bureau of Investigation agent punched him right inside the Quezon City’s Hall of Justice on Tuesday night.

Assistant City Prosecutor Benjamin Samson said 10 men who introduced themselves as NBI agents came to the Quezon City Hall, looking for an inquest fiscal past 11 p.m. on Tuesday.  Samson, who had just returned to the building to retrieve an item he inadvertently left, said he approached the NBI agents, who were then talking with security guards, and told them that no inquest fiscal was available at that time because the prosecutor’s office closed at 11 p.m.

With no apparent provocation, one of the men, whom Samson described to be about five-foot-seven inches tall and dark-skinned, suddenly hit him in the face while his companions prevented the security guards from intervening.

The men then hurriedly left aboard three vehicles: a private vehicle, another with a government license plate, and a third marked “Security Management Division-NBI.”

Samson had the punching incident recorded in the blotter of the Quezon City Police District.
