Man sets parents’ house on fire

A 25-year-old man in Tabogon town, northern Cebu set his parents’ house on fire after they turned down his request for a financial help.

Police arrested Tony Claves, who lives in barangay Managase, Borbon town, after the incident but was later released after his parents decided not to press charges against him.

Police said Claves went to his parents’ house to ask for money since his wife was scheduled to give birth.

Police said Claves became unruly when his parents refused to give him money. Because of their son’s behavior, the parents left the house.

When they returned home a few hours later, they found their house razed.

Police said Claves used a lighter in setting the house made of light materials on fire.

Damage was pegged at P5,000, said P02 Junrey Frias of Tabogon police./Correspondent Joy Cherry S. Quito
