MANILA, Philippines — Moderate earthquakes hit the provinces of Antique and Surigao del Norte early Tuesday, but with no immediate damages recorded.
A 4.9 tectonic tremor shook 6 kilometers northeast of Valderrama in Antique province at 1:53 a.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The quake, which had a depth of 11 kilometers, was felt at Intensity V n Valderrama, Intensity IV in Sibalom and San Jose de Buenavista, and Intensity III in Calinog town in Iloilo.
Aftershocks were expected from the quake, Phivolcs said.
Meanwhile, a 4.7 magnitude quake hit 159 kilometers northeast of Surigao del Norte at 6:25 a.m. but with no aftershocks expected.
The tectonic quake had a depth 49 kilometers but with no reported intensities, Phivolcs said.
