ALL IS WELL again in Ateneo as the school’s biggest sports patron Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) and his alma mater mended fences which eventually led to the hiring of Bo Perasol as the Blue Eagles’ new head coach.
This was announced early yesterday morning in a statement that was posted on the school’s website www.ateneo. edu.
Perasol replaces Norman Black, who has opted to become the head coach of one of MVP’s PBA squads, the Talk N Text Tropang Texters.
Perasol, a former coach of the then-Powerade Tigers, though, has some pretty big shoes to fill as he inherits a program that has won five straight titles in the UAAP.
According to the statement, the decision to name Perasol as the new head coach was arrived to by the school’s search committee after several dialogues between university president, Fr. Jose Ramon Villarin and MVP.
“MVP offered to arrange for me to meet with Coach Bo Perasol, so that we could reconsider our mutual termination of an earlier agreement. We are grateful to MVP for his gesture of goodwill,” said Villarin in the statement./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
