The profuse bleeding that happened during Arvie Nery’s second heart operation in 2008 traumatized him to the point where he also gave up fighting the congenital disease that has prevented him from living a normal life.
The first operation in 2003 repaired and reconnected the nerves in the 22-year-old’s heart. In the second one, a hole in his right valve was covered with flesh from his thigh. In the third operation, doctors will replace the right valve of his heart.
Virginia, Nery’s mother, said that her son’s misgivings of going under the knife again were also partly due to the problem of raising P115,000 for the operation.
“He said I had already done so much by looking for sponsors. But he has suffered a lot. Now is not the time to give up,” the mother of seven said.
Those who want to help Nery can call Virginia at 0926-7809651. Donations are welcome and can be deposited in her PNB account (account number 3712-3060-0015/account name Virginia Nery).
