MARY JANE Beboso and Kenyan Isack Simat emerged winners in the Gawad Kalinga Run yesterday at the Parkmall in Mandaue City.
Beboso and Simat topped the 21-kilometer race with Beboso clocking 1:42.58 to rule the women’s race and the Kenyan finishing in 1:14.50 to win the men’s title.
Simat was trailed by fellow Douglas Mwiti (1:15.41) and Michael Largo (1:21.85).
University of Southern Philippines-Foundation’s (USP-F) Joeyry Lee claimed the second spot in the ladies’ race with a time of 1:48.06 while Helen Palma finished third with a time of 1:55.02.
Joebert Carolino and Lovely Fe Andrin shared top honors in the 12k race. Carolino topped the men’s side with a time of 32:20.45 while Andrin finished in 44:59.54 for the women’s race.
Another USPF runner in Joel Delposo topped the 6k race with a time of 21:11.89 while the younger Cherry Andrin finished first in the distaff side with a time of 29:08.34.
Angeles Aribal (11:34.59) and Joel Andrin (8:47.98) dominated the 3k race. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
