FOOTBALL teams preparing for the upcoming Central Visayas Regional Athletics Association (CVIRAA) meet in Dumaguete will vie in the 1st Cebu City Sports Center Football Friendship Games – Champions League this weekend at the CCSC football field.
CCSC manager Ricky Ballesteros said champion teams that will be representing their cities in the regional meet have been invited to compete in this tournament.
Selected teams in the elementary division are Cebu City-Don Bosco Technological Center, Warshockz, Mandaue City Selection—mostly made up of players from Subangdaku Elementary School—and the Danao City Selection.
The secondary division will have the Cebu City Selection mostly coming from DBTC, Pomeroy Futbolitos comprised by students of the Abellana National School, Mandaue City Selection—a combination of Mandaue Technical Institute and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu—and Cebu Province Selection mostly coming from Don Bosco Boys Home Liloan.
Ballesteros said he is planning to make this an annual event.
It is dubbed as Champions League because most of the participants are champion teams or teams that have dominated their respective district meets.
Ballesteros said this is CCSC’s contribution to making football the no.1 sport in the country. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
