THE Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) and all the 27 barangay captains in the city signed a covenant against illegal gambling last Friday, Nov. 16 at the Mandaue City Hall.
During the session of the barangay captains held on the same day, MCPO Director, Police Sr. Superintendent Petronelli Baldebrin stated their full support to the barangay captains in the campaign against all forms of illegal gambling.
Baldebrin said he hoped that through his leadership, the campaign of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Nicanor Bartolome against illegal gambling would gain an all-out support not only from the city’s police, but also from all the local officials.
“This is the most appropriate point to start – that is the barangay level,” Baldebrin said.
This is also in compliance with the expanded one-strike policy of the PNP.
Under the expanded policy, a police station commander will be relieved if another PNP unit confirms the existence of illegal gambling or the presence of fugitives in his area of jurisdiction through a successful operation.
