MANILA, Philippines–Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Friday said that top leaders of the Aman Futures Group Phils. Inc. wanted to cooperate with the government’s investigation of the P12-billion investment scam that victimized some 15,000 people.

“Certain members of the board of directors of Aman have sent feelers to us indicating their intention to become state witnesses,” De Lima told reporters.

She said, however, that the offers have yet to materialize although she added that if the top Aman Futures cooperates, it would help the Department of Justice’s fact-finding and preliminary investigations in their tasks to go after the masterminds of the scam.

De Lima also confirmed that the DOJ was studying the possibility of making Ma. Donna Coyme, the alleged financial manager of Aman who gave herself up to the National Bureau of Investigation in Pagadian City, a prosecution witness.

Coyme arrived in Manila on Friday.

“We have yet to thoroughly assess her statement but I have already ordered the NBI to secure her,” De Lima said.
