PARK n’ Go Bakeshoppe shocked former league leader Utility Assurance Corporation (UTASSCO), 59-56, Tuesday night to claim its fourth win in six outings at the close of the elimination round of the Power Forty Basketball Club (PFBC)-2012 Christmas basketball tournament at the barangay Inayawan court.
Utassco led in the first three periods and posted its biggest lead of eight points, 47-39, entering the final quarter.
However, the Breadmakers caught fire in the fourth period and unloaded a 20-9 bomb behind Al Misa and Adot Tabar capped by the former’s undergoal stab with a foul that gave the Breakmakers their first taste of the lead, 55-53 with 25 seconds remaining. Adot Tabar then iced the hard-earned win by scoring his team’s last four baskets.
Misa and Tabar led Park n’ Go with a game-high 20 and 15 points, respectively, while Michael Veloso and Rey Abarquez paced Utassco with 15 and 12, respectively.
The win pushed Park n’ Go to the top spot, with Jenjic Commando at second and Utassco in third place with identical 4-2 cards.
Meanwhile, the Alfa Electrical of Chino Kalinga claimed its first win after crushing favored Water Market, 69-59 to improve to 1-5.
Pointguard Mac-Mac Navares and bull-strong center Joel Jaca paced Alfa Electrical with a game-high 26 and 20 points, respectively, while Michael Arias and Vez Eleguin paced Water Market (3-3) with 16 and 15 points, respectively.
