All set for first Storython today

November will end with a high note as reading advocate group, Basadours rolls out its first ever “Storython: A Storytelling Marathon Event” today at the Cebu City Public Library (CCPL) in line with the National Book Week celebration.

Leading the roster of storytellers are members of the Saint Theresa’s College’s Buhilaman Theatre Organization (BTO), University of San Carlos librarian Lorna Eguia, The Picture Company Cebu staff Eva Marie Gamboa and Debbie Acebu , and pupils of Childlink Learning Center.

USC’s Eguia is no stranger to the Basadours’ storytelling session as she has volunteered several times as storyteller. She also conducted a seminar-workshop on “Storytelling and Storytelling Techniques” with the Basadours.

It will be the second time for BTO to join the Basadours storytelling initiative, while Childlink and The Picture Company’s Gamboa and Acebu are first timers to a Basadours-initiated storytelling event.

Stories, which highlight the values of cleanliness, respect and love, will be told to more than 100 children from various day care centers of barangays Pulangbato, Bulacao and Bacayan.

Storython will be held today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the CCPL. People are welcomed to drop by the CCPL to witness the event.

The first Storython is supported by Garces Royal Garden, Islands Souvenirs, The Picture Company, Vaseline, Surf and Ate-Kuya Children’s Welfare.
