Aquino urged to undergo medical check-up
MANILA, Philippines — Apparently concerned with President Benigno Aquino III’s recent bouts of illness, a lawmaker on Thursday urged that the head of state undergo an executive medical check-up.
In a statement, Isabela Representative Rodolfo Albano said that it might be best for the President to undergo a check-up to determine his health condition.
“While we surmise fatigue may have triggered the recurring sickness of the President, we believe it is still best for him to have an immediate executive check-up to determine the underlying cause of his condition and his true state of health,” said the lawmaker.
Albano said it might also do Aquino good to rest and take a short vacation, as he was earlier advised by Health Secretary Enrique Ona.
The President should not take his health for granted as “good health is vital in enabling the President [to] perform well and effectively lead our nation.”
