THE Hoopers drubbed the USC Intangibles, 78-61, for its 5th win in seven outings (5-2), while BCH Martians crushed winless Bombardier Zefiro, 74-64, last Sunday to improve to 4-2 in the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)-2012 annual basketball tournament.
The game was close in the first half resulting in a 37-all deadlock before the Hoopers outscored USC Intangibles, 17-12 in the third to erect a five-point lead, 54-49. Then the Hoopers pulled away in the fourth with a blistering 24-12 run capped by Dondon Santiago’s 12 points in that stretch for the 17-point victory.
Santiago and Khan Guieb had 21 and 20 points, respectively for the Hoopers while Renden Judilla and Karl Leyson paced USC Intangibles (3-3) with 21 and 16 markers, respectively.
In the other game, BCH Martians dominated Bombardier Zefiro from start to finish for the 10-point win.
Edlin Endrina and Art Flores led BCH Martians with a game-high 21 and 13 points, respectively while Jake Piape and Melvin Judaya paced Zefiro with 20 and 15 points, respectively.
