Boxes of seized fish stolen from Danao police station
The Cebu Provincial Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force (CPAIFTF) will investigate the loss of three boxes of seized fish at the Danao City police station in northern Cebu.
According to a report from Joefrey Merencillo, task force coordinator, five boxes of blasted fish were confiscated in a checkpoint near the city’s fish port last July 23.
When members of the task force decided to have lunch, they left the boxes of fish at the city’s police station “thinking that it was the safest place.”
Later, Merencillo said they went back to the station and found out three boxes of fish were missing. The three boxes of fish were worth P7,500.
Another box was “tampered, opened and half empty.”
When told of the loss, the policemen on duty could not explain what happened or who were responsible for the loss.
