The Marie Ernestine School – Cebu continues its advocacy for a clean and green environment.
Both the north campus in Talamban, Cebu City and the main campus in Lapu-Lapu City practice the use of reduce, reuse, recycle and restore (4Rs).
The teachers and students use recycled materials in their activities.
One of the activities of the school, in cooperation with the Family and School Collaborative Association (FASCA), was the launching of its “Search for the Earth Ambassadors” on Nov. 29, 2011 at the Ayala Activity Center Cebu.
During the launching, the Ernestineans ramped with their costumes made from plastic wrappers, used tarpaulins, plastic bottles and dried leaves.
The props of the students were also made from recycled materials.
Last year’s theme, “Reuse the Past, Recycle the Present, Save the Future” was aimed to remind the public to start taking care of the planet.
“It’s very fulfilling that the activity inspired the audience and I’m sure they realized that there’s beauty from materials that they normally throw. A lot of the shoppers who witnessed the show gave great reviews,” the school said in its press statement.
This year, the school will once again hold its search for the next Earth Ambassadors on Nov. 29 at the Ayala Activity Center Cebu from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with the theme: “4R’s: Bearing Witness, Taking a Stand, Making a Move.”
The students, teachers and some budding designers in Cebu will again astound the audience with their recycled creations.
Everyone is invited to join the celebration for a better, cleaner and greener Earth.
