Satera bucks cramps to win Carcar tennis

ONE OF CEBU’S top netter Fritz Satera dominated the Carcar Open Tournament 2012 last Sunday.

The tournament was one of activities held in line with the celebration of the city’s fiesta.

Satera, a University of San Carlos accountancy student, clinched the title by lambasting Roy Tabotabo of Tuburan, 6-3, 6-0, despite limping with cramps.

After winning the first set, Satera won all his services to immediately post a 5-0 lead in the second set.

However, while he was serving at 15-30 in favor of Tabotabo, his legs started cramping.

Despite being made to rest for a few minutes, the cramps continued but this did not stop Satera from posting matchpoint at 40-all. He then closed out the match in his favor.

He advanced into the finals by routing Philippine no. 15 RJ Abarquez, 8-4, in the semifinals.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
