Pasumala said Padron, who was thrown off the motorcycle, sustained severe injuries in the head and other parts of the body.

The driver of the Isuzu truck, identified as Edwin Algas from Sta. Ana, Barili town, surrendered to the police.

Algas claimed that he was traveling on the South Road going to Cebu City to deliver hogs from the south when Padron suddenly crossed the road. Algas said his vehicle slammed against motorcycle because it was too late for him to hit the brakes.

According to Pasumala, the police would charge Algas with reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property with homicide.

Padron’s colleagues at the San Nicolas police precinct were saddened by his death.

Senior Police Officer 4 Reynaldo Origenes said Padron, who had been with the San Nicolas police station for almost a year, was a good worker.
