Albay Gov. Joey Salceda’s mother dies

MANILA, Philippines – The mother of Abay Governor Joey Salceda died early Wednesday after a fall the night before, a report on 990AM said. She was 89.

Quoting National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Executive Director Benito Ramos, the report said Cielo Adelina Sarte Salceda slipped in her house at Polangui in Albay late Tuesday night and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The report said Mrs. Salceda died at 6 a.m. this Wednesday.

Ramos said they would not count Mrs. Salceda’s death as storm-related.

Albay and the rest of the Bicol region are experiencing floods due to the heavy rains spawned by Tropical Storm “Juaning.”
