Pecandela, Bhutakalz win q’final games
THE Mark Russ Gamallo-led Pecandela Law Firm-Primary Homes and Bhutakalz, formerly Young Lawyers Association of Cebu (YLAC) beat separate foes in the quarterfinal round of the 9th IBP basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.
Pecandela led, 19-9 in the first period but Pañeros responded with a 21-17 run in the second to cut its deficit to six, 30-36, at the half. But Pecandela proved unstoppable in the third and fourth to cruise to the, 62-47 win.
Tommy Yu led Pecandela with 16 points while Ruel Juban and Barry Busi paced Pañeros with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
In the other game, the Bhutakalz shocked favored Super Idols, 65-60, in overtime with Van Ligutan scoring 24 points. Fermin Pepito and Eugene Sumampong paced Super Idols with 17 and 15 markers.
Earlier, in the Wildcard Division, the Los Demonyos dumped Dissenters, 71-56 with Art Flores scoring 17 points with Lito Ortiz and Bads Del Prado adding 13 points apiece. Kern Sesante paced Dissenters with 15 markers.
Meanwhile, the Eagles Team of Atty. Kit Enriquez won by default over Primos-Rama.
