All systems go for ‘The Run Continues’

IN CELEBRATION of its fifth year in Cebu, Qualfon will be venturing into the running scene anew when it holds “The Run Continues” event on Aug. 7 at the Asiatown IT Park.

It will be the second time for Qualfon to organize a running event in Cebu. Last year, Qualfon staged its first-ever Run For Q. It was also part of a running event of the Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDFIT) last year.

The upcoming running event will have 3-kilometer, 6k and 15k categories.

Glibey Radin, Qualfon’s head of  general affairs, said they are optimistic of staging their second running event because of the success of last year’s event.

“Last year we are able to accumulate 2,000 plus entrants,” said Radin during the launching of the event yesterday at the Mooon Cafe at the IT Park.

But she said they are only targeting around 1,500 participants this year after learning that the LiveRun of the Cebu Gastroentorologists Society will be held also on Aug. 7.

Radin was joined by Qualfon Employee Relations staff Lea May Torres, Grace Besabella and recruitment officer Joy Pastorfide in the press conference.

Proceeds of the running event will go to Qualfon’s social responsibility program, which includes its free English teaching program in Apas-Lahug Elementary School.

Registration fee for the 3k and 6k will be at P300 for regular runners and P200 for students. A 20 percent discount will be given to senior citizens.

The 15k registration fee is pegged at P300 for students, P350 for regular runners.

Winners in the  15k will get P5,000 while 6k first placers will be receiving P3,000.     Registration sites are at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC), Bodytone in Gorordo, RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu and Skyrise Building 3 at the Asiatown IT Park. Registration ends on July 29.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
