MANILA, Philippines — An intertropical convergence zone in Mindanao and a cold front in Batanes will bring rains in these areas, the state weather bureau said Monday.
The regions of Caraga , Davao and Northern Mindanao will be cloudy with occasional light to moderate rainshowers or thunderstorms, while Batanes, Cagayan and Apayao will experience cloudy skies with light rains, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
An ITCZ is a merge of winds from different directions and is a breeding ground for potential low pressure areas.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with isolated brief rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, Pagasa said.
Cooler winds usher in the Christmas season. Baguio experienced its coldest temperature yet Sunday at 14 degrees Celsius. Metro Manila was at 22.1 degrees Celsius Sunday as its lowest temperature, but its coldest so far was at 21 degrees Celsius on November 3.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and Eastern Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas, the state weather bureau said.
