ROY CARBONERA and Elmer Navarro made their presence felt in the Cebu Challenge Cycling Classic Mountain Bike One Day Race after both riders dominated the first and second stages, respectively.
Carbonera pedaled his way to the finish line first in stage one from Talisay City Hall to Naga Uling Road’s summit with a time of two hours, 38 minutes and 40 seconds, topping the elite open division.
Warren Vinan came in second place with a time of two hours, 38 minutes and 50 seconds while Marvin Tapic rounded off the top three with a time of two hours, 39 minutes and 10 seconds.
In the second stage of the elite open division, Navarro took advantage of his expertise of downhill biking and finished first with a time of two hours, 41 minutes and one second to edge Randy Carbonera, who placed second with a time of two hours 48 and one second. Marvin Tapic again placed third, clocking two hours, 49 minutes and 22 seconds.
The second stage started in the Uling road summit and finished in Tuburan town.
The stage winners were awarded cash prizes and trophies. The other results will be announced today, according to organizers.
The race is organized by Boy Odilao and handled by race director Joe Deresas with the support of Talisay and Tuburan’s local government unit. Around a hundred riders joined the race. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
