The late sculptor Isabelo Tampinco was born on Nov. 19, 1850, in Binondo, Manila. Among his works include the high relief carving on the door of Santo Domingo Church in Intramuros and the decorative wood carvings in Malacañang. Tampinco advocated the use of native Filipino style in decorative art and exhibited architectural plans and models which became later known as “estilo Tampinco.” Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
