A Quezon City police officer who reportedly mauled and pointed a gun at a teenager was arrested on Saturday night in Caloocan City but the case against him was later dropped.
Police identified the parties involved as Senior Inspector Jun Fortunato of the Quezon City Police District’s Talipapa station and Francisco Lagahit, 18, a resident of Mangahan Street in Barangay Dela Paz, Pasig City.
Case investigator Senior Police Officer 2 Joselito Delos Reyes of the Barugo station in North Caloocan said in a report that Fortunato had told them that he chased Lagahit after the teenager threw a stone at the roof of his house.
The teenager, on the other hand, accused the policeman of pointing a gun at him and beating him up around 9:30 p.m. on Samuel Street, North Olympus, Barangay 172.
The two were taken to the police station where authorities recovered from Fortunato a 9-mm pistol and rifle.
The teenager initially filed a complaint for physical injuries and grave threat against Fortunato who filed a countercharge of unjust vexation.
The two, however, reached an amicable settlement and agreed to withdraw the charges against each other.
