Two races set today

Two running  events will be held today in separate venues.

The Terraces of the Ayala Center Cebu in Cebu City will be the starting point for the Royal Run 2012 of Hotel Elizabeth.

The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) and the Philippine Association of Secretaries (PAS), on the other hand, also holds the  Synergy Run  today starting at the Parkmall grounds at the North reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

The Synergy Run will feature 21-kilometer, 12k, 6k and 3k distances.

The race aims to come up with funds for  the Bonita Girls Home and the Tulay National High School. The Bonita Girls Home is a shelter for abandoned and abused girls while PMAP is aiming to help student-scholars of the Tulay NHS.

Kenyan runners are only allowed to join the 12k category to give local runners a chance to win in the half-marathon 21k race.

More than P60,000 worth of cash prizes, medals and trophies are at stake for the winners in this race.

Meanwhile, the Royal Run will have 4k,  8k and 16k categories.

Proceeds of this race will go to the San Pedro Calungsod Foundation. The race has the support of the Archdiocese of Cebu headed by Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma.

The top five winners in each category will receive cash prizes.

Kenyan runners are allowed to join the 8k and 4k categories of the race as they try to outrun some of  Cebu’s elite runners in the race around the Cebu Business Park. /CORRESPONDENT Dale rosal
