The order for the relief and 15-day suspension of Talisay police chief Supt. Eddie Recamara will be put on hold till after the Nov. 30 San Pedro Calungsod thanksgiving Mass, where all security forces will be fielded.
Recamara has to stay a little longer since Talisay City policemen have a big role in securing the venue of the Mass, said Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo Jr., director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).
“I will just defer the suspension and the relief orders of Supt. Recamara since he is very much involved during the big event,” Garbo said.
Recamara was found guilty in an administrative case filed against him last year by Danao City Prosecutor Jose Kyamko.
Recamara, who was then Danao City police chief, was accused of fabricating evidence against a detainee suspected of drug pushng.
Recamara is also under fire for the Talisay police’s failure to arrest Joavan Fernandez, who angirly fired several shots at a Shell gasoline station in barangay Bulacao, Talisay City last Sunday dawn.
The opposition bloc in the Talisay City Council earlier said Recamera should arrest Joavan or resign./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
