Couple gunned down; police eye love triangle

A couple walking home from the public market was killed by a lone gunman in barangay Poblacion Ward 4, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu.

Police said a love triangle could be the motive in the murder of Lellosa Flores, 42, and her live-in partner, Alexander Samson, 40, of Zamboanga City.

The couple died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said the couple, both banana vendors, had been living together for a year after the woman separated from her husband.

They came from the public market and were walking home when an unidentified gunman peppered them with bullets past 8 p.m. on Wednesday, said police.

The woman’s husband was picked up by police for questioning but was later released when witnesses failed to identify him as the assailant, said Chief Insp. Timmar Alam, chief of Minglanilla police.

Four empty shells of a 9mm pistol were recovered from the area.

Police said the couple had no known enemies in the area./CORRESPONDENTS GABRIEL C. BONJOC AND JOY CHERRY S. QUITO
