The Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office has recommended the filing of murder charges against three people linked to the killing of part-time model Julie Ann Rodelas.
The one-page amended resolution included the name of Jaymar Waradji, along with those of Althea Altamirano and Fernando Quiambao Jr., her boyfriend.
During the inquest proceedings on Monday afternoon, the recommendation was that Waradji’s case be subjected to a regular preliminary investigation while Altamirano and Quiambao be charged in court. No reason was given for the change. Earlier, it was believed that Waradji would turn state witness against the couple.
Assistant city prosecutor Alessandro Jurado recommended no bail for Waradji, Altamirano and Quiambao since murder is a heinous, nonbailable offense.
Case investigator Police Officer 2 Jogene Hernandez said the case had yet to be raffled off to a trial court.
Meanwhile, the police are keeping a close watch on areas where two other men linked to the killing may be hiding.
According to Senior Superintendent Neri Ilagan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) deputy director for operations, Efren Talib and a man known only as Aldos are believed to have left their safe house at the Salaam compound in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City.
“We are monitoring these other places believed to be their lairs,” Ilagan told reporters Thursday although he declined to go into details.
The two were linked to the killing by Waradji. Over the weekend, Waradji was arrested along with Altamirano and Quiambao.
The killing was prompted by Altamirano’s grudge against the victim whom she had accused of spreading rumors about her. To pacify his girlfriend, Quiambao had offered to teach Rodelas a lesson.
He, Waradji and several others kidnapped the victim on November 6, took her to a safe house in Salaam compound and kept her there for several hours before killing her.
Rodelas’ body was later dumped on a street in Quezon City.
QCPD director Chief Supt. Mario de la Vega has formed tracker teams to go after Talib and Aldos who, according to Waradji, raped the victim.
