Retired cop, wife, pal ambushed in QC

A retired policeman, his wife and their female companion were ambushed by armed men Wednesday night in Quezon City.

Eduardo Valle, 47 was unhurt but his wife, Czarina, 42, and their friend Freda Gallego, 39, sustained gunshot wounds in the 9 p.m. ambush on Commonwealth Avenue near the Tullahan Bridge in Barangay (village) North Fairview.

Senior Police Officer 2 Diosdado Peralta of the Quezon City Police District said the three were on board Valle’s green Toyota Innova when they were attacked by gunmen who approached the vehicle on foot.

Valle was able to duck, while the wounded women were rushed to Far Eastern University Hospital for treatment, the officer said.

Peralta said Czarina and Gallego were both in the lending business, leading police to initially look for a possible link between the attack and their recent dealings.—Julie M. Aurelio
