THE Cebu City Council expressed it condolence to the family of radio dyAB program anchor Marlon Bellita who died on Tuesday two weeks after suffering a severe stroke.
A resolution was unanimously passed yesterday by the City Council recognizing the broadcaster.
“Mr. Marlon Bellita was a dedicated radio reporter and anchorman of dyAB who was known as “Mr. Rated R” in his daily radio program and brought laughter and great joy to his listeners,” it said.
The council also cited Bellita “for touching the many lives of those who were in need in the program Tabang Patrol.”
Mayor Rama said Bellita was “everybody’s friend” and that his passing left a void difficult to fill in the airlanes.
Bellita’s comic dialogs, which had him speaking in several voices, were followed closely by AM radio listeners, including taxi drivers who found his humor a big relief on the road.
Mayor Rama said Bellita’s witty wordplay was unique.
“He put all these together like a director, actor, scriptwriter in one,” Rama said.
The mayor attended the vigil wake at the St. Peter Memorial Chapel where where media colleagues, fans and relatives gathered to pay their respects and condole with the family. /Correspondent Edison delos Angeles
