Woman, 17-year-old boy arrested for burglary
Policemen arrested on Monday afternoon a teenager and a 21-year-old woman accused of burglarizing a neighbor’s home and taking P100,000 worth of cash and valuables.
Vicky Ortiz, a resident of Cristobal Street in Paco, Manila, and the 17-year-old boy were picked up by members of the Manila Police District’s theft and homicide section several hours after the robbery was reported.
Case investigator SPO2 Rodelio Lingcong told the Inquirer that they recovered from the pair some of the stolen items which included two cell phones, a pair of earrings worth P20,000, and P13,900 in cash.
He added that the two were arrested at around 5:30 p.m. on Monday after they were tagged by a witness.
The policeman said the burglary happened just before dawn inside the house of Helen Buyan on Cristobal Street in Paco, Manila.
Buyan told the police that when she woke up at 4 a.m., she saw that someone had forced open her closet and gone through her bag.
A neighbor of hers later went to the police to say that at around 2:30 a.m. that same day, he saw the teenage boy coming out of Buyan’s house with Ortiz waiting for him. Jeannette I. Andrade
