Parian has new police station

A new heritage police station was turned over by the Cebu City government and business stakeholders to the Parian police last Monday.

This is the fifth police station built under the joint Adopt-a-Police station project of the city government, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (AFI).

Patterned after an ancient house, Cebu City Police Office Chief Senior Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe described the P2.6 million police station as historic because of its heritage features.

Barangay Parian is also home to heritage houses like the Casa Gorordo Museum, Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House and the Heritage of Cebu Monument.

The four other police stations earlier turned over under the Adopt-a-Police station project were the Mabolo police station, Waterfront police station, Fuente police station and Sawang Calero police station.

During the ceremony, Rama reminded the Parian police led by Chief Inspector Aileen Recla of their responsibility to maintain the new police station as well. He also encouraged the policemen to improve their performance against criminality now that they already have a new police station.

In his speech, AFI president Jon Ramon Aboitiz said the donation of new police station is the foundation’s support to the city’s police force.

CCCI president Prudencio Gesta, for his part, said that through the project, they hoped to provide all police stations in the city with new buildings. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
