Nietes returns to the ring against Thai on Nov. 17

Two-division world champion and reigning WBO Light Flyweight king Donnie “Ahas” Nietes of the Philippines will make his ring return against Thai Danai Meendaeng on Nov. 17, 2012 at the Macias Sports Complex in Dumaguete City, Negros Occidental.

ALA Promotions, in line with its effort of bringing boxing’s more popular fighters closer to the Filipinos, will be bringing Nietes, the longest reigning active world champ from the Philippines closer to his fans in Negros Oriental.

Nietes will showcase his slick and steady boxing style against Meendaeng in a 10-round, non-title bout in preparation for his second defense of his WBO light Flyweight belt against a still to be named foe early next year.

Nietes has been preparing non-stop as he believes he cannot slack-off at this level and point of his career.

“I have been training non-stop and have been very disciplined with all aspects of my training as a pro boxer. As a fighter, I believe I always have to be prepared and focused as the fighters I will be facing at this championship level are the top fighters in the world. These guys want what I have. They want my title and I cannot take these fighters for granted,” said Nietes.

TITLE DEFENSE NEXT YEAR

“We have already finalized next year’s plans and we are excited for yet another great year for Philippine boxing. We already have a Feb. 2 Pinoy Pride XVIII date for next year for his title defense,” said ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael Aldeguer,
