CABANATUAN CITY—Authorities have increased to P2 million the reward for people who could provide information that would lead to the solution of the murder of a radio broadcaster here last week.

Senior Supt. Walter Castillejos, Nueva Ecija police director, said Gov. Aurelio Umali has promised to give P1 million to add to the P1-million reward put up by Mayor Julius Cesar Vergara for information that would help identify the suspects behind the murder of dwJJ anchor Julius Caesar Cauzo.

Cauzo, 52, was driving a motorcycle on Nov. 8 when he was shot three times by a lone gunman in Barangay Aduas. Cauzo died while being taken to Good Samaritan Hospital here.

Castillejos said investigators released a sketch of the gunman, based on descriptions provided by three witnesses. He said the suspect is between 40 and 43 years old, stands about 5 feet and 10 inches, and of medium built.

Supt. Eli Depra, Cabanatuan City police director, said investigators reviewed the city police’s files of crime suspects but the gunman’s features did not match any of them.

Cauzo was the second broadcaster of dwJJ who was murdered in this city in six years. On Dec. 7, 2006, Ponciano Grande, 53, also of dwJJ, was shot and killed in his farm here. His case remains unsolved. Anselmo Roque and Armand Galang, Inquirer Central Luzon
