UST student dies in fall from main building

MANILA, Philippines — A junior biology student of the University of Santo Tomas died Monday night in a fall from the school’s Main Building, the UST student publication said in a report.

The victim was identified as Jonah Ortiz but it was not clear if he jumped or fell accidentally.

Students on the second floor of the Main Building said on Twitter that they saw him fall around 2 p.m. at the atrium.

A pharmacy student who witnessed the fall was undergoing stress debriefing, the Varsitarian said.

Ortiz was rushed to the UST Hospital but was pronounced dead at 7:40 p.m.
