MANILA, Philippines—Classes in the preschool, elementary and high school levels in private and public schools in areas under storm signal No. 2 have been suspended for Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMC) said Tuesday.
In a telephone interview, NDRRMC Executive Director Benito Ramos said that classes in the preschool and elementary levels in private and public schools are also suspended in areas under signal No. 1.

He explained that this is in accordance with the Department of Education’s set guidelines on suspending classes.

Nevertheless, Ramos said that local government units, local DepEd officials and school principals and administrators in areas that are not under a storm signal but are also experiencing inclement weather have the discretion to suspend classes if deemed necessary.
