House might tackle RH bill this week, says solon
MANILA, Philippines—One of the proponents of the controversial Reproductive Health Bill on Tuesday expressed hope the proposed measure would be tackled within the week.
Ifugao Representative Teddy Baguilat told reporters in a press conference that lawmakers supporting the bill were hoping it would be discussed “hopefully today.”
He said there was no quorum on Monday, adding: “Traditionally, it’s hard to secure attendance on Monday due to privilege hours.”
Baguilat said the lack of quorum during Monday sessions could be due to the upcoming midterm elections, saying many members of the House of Representatives are already busy preparing for their campaigns.
“Hopefully today and tomorrow we’ll get quorum,” he said.
