Adamson trounces Jose Rizal

THE ADAMSON Soaring Falcons took advantage of a listless third period showing by the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers to prevail, 79-54, in the Sweet 16 stage of the 2012 Philippine Collegiate Champions League yesterday in Tanauan, Batangas.

The Falcons tightened their defense in the third period to strangle JRU, which managed just six points and fell behind, 33-57, after trailing by just six at halftime, 27-33.

Jansen Rios paced Adamson with 15 points and seven rebounds in the absence of star forward Eric Camson, who is suiting up for the NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA D-League.

Incidentally, JRU also played minus their prized gunner Nate Matute, who is also playing in the D-League.

The Falcons will be taking on La Finn’s Scholastica of La Union after the latter rallied to defeat the University of Batangas, 89-86.

Adamson and La Finn face off at 2 pm and will be followed by a game between the University of Perpetual Help Altas and the La Salle Green Archers.

The winners of the aforementioned matches will take on one another for the right to tangle with the winner of the match between the reigning PCCL champions San Sebastian and the National University, which will be played here in Cebu on Nov. 14. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
