The San Beda Red Cubs and the San Sebastian Staglets try to keep their nose clean when they take on separate rivals in the continuation of the Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship (PSSBC) today at the Chiang Kai Shek College gym in Manila.
The reigning NCAA champions Red Cubs of Cebuano head coach Britt Reroma tangle with the Letran Squires while the Staglets have the tough task of matching up with the Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Tournament titlist Chiang Kai Shek at 12 noon.
Armed with a bevy of weapons led by former Philippine U-16 team member Arvie Tolentino, NCAA Finals MVP Javee Mocon and Alejandro Inigo, the Red Cubs won their first two games, 95-91, over Hope Christian School and 81-77 over the National University.
In other games, the Far Eastern University-Diliman, which is being led by back-to-back UAAP juniors MVP Cebuano Jerie Marlon Pingoy, tries to bounce back from its 58-66 loss to San Sebastian when it faces off against Ateneo.
Pingoy is aiming for redemption after he was shackled to just eight points in their last game.
NU, meanwhile, seeks its first victory as it collides with Hope Christian. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
