Hoopers nip IBP-Gwapo in Picpa caging

THE Hoopers edged tough rival IBP-Gwapo, 75-74, Wednesday night for its fourth win in six games, while IBP-B trounced winless Bombardier Zefiro, 56-48 in the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)-2012 basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.

Hoopers trailed, 14-17 in the first canto but rallied in the second to rule the half 32-31. The third saw several deadlocks and lead changes resulting to a 51-all tie going to the final quarter. Both teams continue their battle royale in the fourth until Yoly Meso calmly sank his two charity shots with five seconds left to lift the Hoopers to the close win.

Andre Tocao and Khan Guieb led Hoopers with 22 and 15 points, respectively, while Ruel Juban and Ferdie Riveral paced IBP-Gwapo with 27 and 13.

In the other game, IBP-B led from start to finish to dump Zefiro with Jarred Cabilte and Mat Velez scoring 14 and 12 points, respectively. Jun Vallespin paced Bombardier Zefiro with 10 points.
