Signal No. 1 up in Metro Manila; No. 2 in 6 provinces—Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines – Signal No. 1 has been raised over Metro Manila while more provinces were placed under Signal No. 2 as Tropical Storm “Juaning” continued to threaten the country, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday.
In its weather bulletin issued at 11 a.m., Pagasa said that Juaning was seen 100 kilometers north-northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte.
Juaning has maintained its strength with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph.
Juaning is forecast to move west-northwestward at 19 kph.
Catanduanes, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Quezon (including Polillo Island) and Aurora were placed under Signal No. 2.
Signal number 1 was raised over Metro Manila, Apayao, Cagayan, Abra, Kalinga, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province, Isabela, Ifugao, La union, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Marinduque, Burias Island and Sorsogon.
Article continues after this advertisement“Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signals two and one are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone,” Pagasa said.
Article continues after this advertisementJuaning will also continue to bring rains over Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas, the state-run weather bureau added.
Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon will experience occasional rains with gusty winds. The rest of Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms which may trigger landslides and flashfloods, Pagasa warned.
Meanwhile, Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, Pagasa said.
By Wednesday morning, Juaning will be 60 km west Dagupan City and by Thursday morning, it will be 380 km west northwest of Laoag City, Pagasa said.
