NAGA CITY—A couple died when a bus from Manila collided head-on with the tricycle that the couple was riding in along the national highway in Barangay (village) Del Rosario here early Thursday.
Senior Police Officer 2 Randy Solano, city police information officer, said the accident happened at 4:25 a.m. while the victims were heading for the city proper while the bus was going to Tabaco City in Albay.
Solano identified the victims as Bartolome Babelonio, 38, and his wife, Alona, 37, of San Roque, Bombon, Camarines Sur. Both were declared dead on arrival at the Bicol Medical Center in this city.
He said Bartolome, who was driving the tricycle, was an amputee and apparently had no driver’s license.
Arturo Araneta, 48, of Tabaco City, the driver of the ALPS bus involved in the accident, told police that immediately prior to the collision, he saw two tricycles that appeared to be racing.
